BAPS is affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi. The Curriculum followed in junior and senior classes is based on NCERT guidelines, albeit with several innovations which have been introduced after much research and study. The school keeps abreast with the best pedagogical practices from all over the world.
Till class V the curriculum is theme-based. The idea behind this is to seamlessly integrate various subjects with a common thread which pertains to practical aspect of life. This gives our students a holistic view and allows them to apply knowledge and correlate various subjects to real-life situations.
children learn better if more than one sense is involved in the learning activities. Opportunities for sensory stimulation are provided in the school through a variety of experiences. The school understands that the children do not learn at a uniform pace and hence they are allowed to follow their own learning curve. They also do not learn in a linear way but in a spiral manner. Hence, they are given time to revisit the learnt concepts from time to time, in a new formatting every time. This helps learning to get consolidated. It believes in promoting independence, developing motivation that arises from a sense of autonomy and freedom, to encourage independent thinking, planning and problem solving.
A lot of learning happens in learning centres where learning happens effortlessly. The learning centres comprise manipulative area, block area, library area, fantasy area, clay area, art area and cutting and pasting area. There is a thoughtful balance between teacher-directed work and child-directed activities. Young children learn from everything they do since they naturally curious. If their explorations and discoveries bring pleasure or success, they will want to learn more. Our children from attitudes about learning that last a lifetime. It is not surprising therefore that our children remain adventurous learners throughout their lives.
From Grade 1 onwards, Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) is followed where in a holistic profile of the learn develops through regular assessment of scholastic and co-scholastic domains of development. CCE scheme brings about a paradigm shift from Assessment to effective pedagogy. Cognitive, affective and psychomotor domains are assessed simultaneously with the help of a variety of tools and techniques. Integrated projects are assigned to individual students or groups to develop basic understanding, practical skills, wholesome interest and desired attitudes among students. parameters such as presentation, technical ability, creative inputs and level of understanding may be used assessment of projects.
